Merida, Yuc. ( August 3, 2021. – The dream has ended for an Israeli team that no one expected to be playing in Tokyo as they are knocked out of the tournament after losing 6-7 to the Dominican Republic.

The Dominican team led a majority of the game after scoring two early runs in the first and third innings when in the fifth the Israeli team strung together a four run rally that gave them their only lead of the night. The top of the fifth saw two Israeli runners score on a Mitch Glasser double down the right field line, to start things off. Followed by Glasser scoring off of a Scotty Burchham single and ending the inning as Ian Kinsler knocked Burchham home. Bringing the score 4-2 Israel.

The Israeli pitching rotation gave up three runs in the sixth and seventh inning– giving up a homer to Jeison Guzman in the seventh. The eighth inning saw Danny Valencia step to the plate with the score 4-5 Dominican as he hit a ball deep over the left field wall, knocking in Kinsler and bringing the score to 6-5 Israel who were unable to keep the Dominican team from scoring in the bottom of the ninth loosing falling one one shy of advancing to the next round.

The next game scheduled is tonight as the Dominican Republic takes on Team USA and the winner advances to the Semi- finals.
