Mérida, Yuc. (elgordogringo.com.mx) 15th of July 2021– Art Charles was the star of game one– which resulted in a 5-3 loss for the Leones– driving in Luis Juarez on a homerun in the bottom of the fourth. Later in the game, we saw Walter Ibarra hit a sacrifice fly to centerfield, allowing Alex Liddi to cross the plate.


Game two saw the Texan native Logan Ondrusek take the mound for the Leones, pitching a shutout through his five-inning appearance allowing three hits and striking out seven batters. Relief pitchers Enrique Burgos and Josh Lueke pitched one inning, each completing the combined shutout.

A wild pitch by the Olmecas pitcher Nicolas Heredia saw Jose Aguilar cross the plate for the Leones in the bottom of the fifth. The bottom of the sixth saw Leones’ second baseman Alan Lopez cross the plate for the game’s final score on a Luis Juarez grounder to the Olmecas shortstop.

The third and final game of the series is tonight at 7:00 PM as Yoanner ‘Asere’ Negrín takes the mound for the Leones.
