Merida, Yuc. ( July 18, 2021- Last night’s double header was full of offensive and defensive plays and saw the debut of recent pitching signee Casey Harman. The first game saw Sebastian Valle knock in two runs in the fifth, ending the game 1-4, and the second game saw five cross the plate in the third, ending the game in a Leones 0-6 shut out.

Game 1

The Pirates took an early lead in the top of the third when Pirate shortstop got caught stealing home as Sebastion Valle was able to throw to second, getting them out. Still, as the ball was at second, the runner at third was able to cross the plate bringing the score to 1-0 till the Leones responded in the bottom of the inning as Jorge Flores scores on an Alex Liddi single.

In the fourth, a Jorge Florez ground out saw Fernando Perez cross home, bringing the score to 1-2 leones. Then, in the bottom of the fifth, Sebastion Valle stepped to the plate, hitting a ground ball to center field, knocking in Liddi and Drake for the last points of the night, ending the first 7-inning contest in a 1-4 Leones win.


Game 2

The Leones took an early 0-1 lead in the first inning as Luis Juarez crossed home on a Sebastion Valle single to centerfield. In the third inning the Leones came out swinging, ending the game 0-6.

Yadir Drake scored on a Luis Juarez double to center field, bringing Fernando Perez to the plate for a single to rightfield driving in Juarez. A throwing error by the Pirates shortstop allowed an alan Lopez ground ball to turn into a double and see Fernando Perez and Jose Aguilar cross the plate.
