During the day, they’re are artisans, embroiderers, high school students, and sheep shepherds; however, just before dusk, they take up their gloves and step to the plate, becoming Las Amazonas de Yaxunah.

Together with sponsor Dunosusa, the Leones could fulfill the dream of many– playing baseball on the same field as the pros. The Yucatecan team traveled over two hours from their home field in Yaxcabá, where they proudly play barefoot in traditional Yucatecan clothing to honor their cultural roots.

Not wanting to deviate from tradition, the women stepped barefoot onto the field. They displayed their skills for several minutes that delighted all those in attendance before the start of the final match of the series between the Lions Yucatán and Tigres de Quintana Roo.
