Merida, Yuc. (elgordogringo.com.mx) July 19, 2021.- Just before the transaction deadline for the season passed, the Leones added Lenix Osuna and signed the return of former major league veteran Manny Parra– who in 2019 helped secure the Leones as Southern division champions.
The Los Angeles Dodgers signed Lexi Osuna in 2012, and he began to stand out in the Arizona Rookie League the following year. In 2014 made his debut in the Mexican Pacific League, and his first appearance in the Mexican Baseball League was in the 2017 season with the Diablos De Mexico.
The Osuna name should be familiar to Mexican baseball because Lenixs’ father, Antonio Osuna, had an 11-year career in the majors where he played predominantly with the Dodgers. Lenix also has a cousin Roberto Osuna who plays for division rivales Dibalos De Mexico.
Lenix comes as a reliever from the Guadalajara Mariachis, where he had a 1-0 record, a 0.93 ERA ERA, and 9 strikeouts in 10 appearances.
Another valuable piece that joined the Leones is former major leaguer Manny Parra, who returns to the organization after helping cement the Leones as Southern Zone Champions in 2019. The veteran left-hander brings 8-years of MLB experience, compiling 29 wins, 592 strikeouts, and a 4.90 ERA.
