With a five run rally in the eighth inning the Leones managed to take the lead ahead of Oaxaca and take game one of the series.

The leones took an early lead in the first inning which they kept through the game until the Guerreros de Oaxaca scored a total of three runs in the seventh and eighth, leading to the five-run rally in the bottom of the inning from the Leones, which put them ahead as reliever Josh Lueke took the mound for the Leones in the ninth to close the game and secure the victory for the Leones.

All season the Leones have been the ¨kings of suspense¨, as writer Russell Gutiérrez dubbed them, with most of their victories coming from late-game rallies. The five-run rally in the eighth from a pair of doubles from ‘Pepón’ Juárez and Sebastián Valle, as well as a home run from Fernando Pérez.

This Wednesday, at 6:45 pm, will be the second clash of the series in the cave. Tickets are now available at superboletos.com and Leoneshop Plaza Altabrisa.
