The game originally scheduled for Friday was one of the many games to see a cancelation due to rain thus far this season. Game one began with a solid showing at the mound for the former major league pitcher Jake Thompson who did not allow a run through the first five innings of the shortened seven-inning game.
The sixth inning saw Los Rojos del Águila runners cross the plate four times, bringing the score to 4-0 when the leones answered in the seventh– and final inning– with a two-run homer hit by Walter Ibarra.
The length of the game was shortened due to the mobility restrictions re-introduced by the Yucatan government earlier in the week– it makes me wonder if given a full 2 more innings if the Leones would have been able to score three more runs to win the game.
A couple of big plays early in the game will find their way onto the series wrap-up tomorrow; spectacular plays by both Alex Liddi and my vote for defensive MVP– Norberto Obeso.
