Despite suffering the first loss of the season Sunday against the Pirates De Campeche, the Leones are still firmly placed first in the southern division with their next home opponents, the tigres de Quintana Roo, placed fourth— that series will be played at Kukulcán Alamo park May 4-6th.

The Leones were missing Valle and Drake bats in the line up last series vs Tabasco, and with Drake on the Cuban Olympic team making him unavailable for the foreseeable future, it remains to be seen when Valle will retake his spot in the line up. hopefully Valle can return soon as his initial 6 games saw his bat contribute a total of 11 runs for the Leones with a batting average of .333

Mexico has not announced its Olympic roster yet. Still, when that happens, it could be devastating for the Leones as we have 3, possibly 4, guys that will make the trip to Japan this July: Luis Juarez, Sebastian Valle, JJ Aguilar, and Jonathan Jones, who all were in the Leones starting line up to start the season.

With May in the books, the Leones have made the Italian Liddi the month’s MVP. Right now, both Liddi and Valle are the most consistent bats and run scorers the Leones have in the lineup, with Drake is gone gallivanting in Cuba, preparing for the Olympics.

Liddi has made some great plays so far in the season and accounted for game-winning drives, so it’s great to see him receive the MVP.

But as we go ahead with a differential of +20 let’s hope that we get the bat of Valle back in the lineup.
